Getting the Valve Right

Installing a degassing valve sounds simple, but getting it right takes attention to detail. The valve has to be positioned correctly, sealed perfectly, and tested thoroughly. If any of these steps fail, the whole package fails. We place valves on the front panel of the pouch, usually in the upper half. This keeps them visible but out of the way of the zipper closure. The location also matters for automated filling lines. The valve needs to be where it won't interfere with equipment.

The valve itself has a few parts. There's a plastic base that seals to the pouch material. Inside sits a silicone membrane that does the actual one-way work. A protective cap covers the outside, with tiny holes that let gas escape but keep out dust and debris.

During manufacturing, we heat-seal the valve base to the film. This has to be done at the right temperature and pressure. Too cool and the seal won't hold. Too hot and the film can warp or weaken. We've dialed in the settings over years of production.

After installation, every valve gets tested. Automated equipment checks that the one-way function works correctly. It applies pressure from inside and verifies that air flows out. Then it tries to pull air back in to make sure the seal holds. Valves that don't pass get rejected before the pouch moves to the next step.

This testing matters because a bad valve ruins the whole purpose of the pouch. Coffee goes stale. Customers complain. Brands lose trust. We don't let that happen.
