Sustainability is a critical concern for brands selling in markets. Aluminum foil packaging, while offering unmatched protection, presents specific challenges for end-of-life management. We are transparent about these challenges and actively working on solutions.
The Current Reality: Our PET/AL/PE structure is not easily recyclable in mainstream municipal recycling streams due to its multi-material composition. We are honest with our clients about this fact. However, we also emphasize that aluminum foil packaging provides other significant environmental benefits that are often overlooked.

Source Reduction: A PET/AL/PE stand-up pouch uses dramatically less material by weight than a rigid alternative like a metal can or glass jar for the same product quantity. This source reduction means fewer resources extracted and less energy consumed in manufacturing.
Food Waste Prevention: The most important environmental metric for any food packaging is its ability to prevent food waste. The environmental impact of producing and disposing of spoiled food far exceeds the impact of its packaging. Our aluminum foil pouches excel at keeping food fresh and consumable for extended periods.

The Path Forward: We are actively engaged with industry initiatives to develop recycling infrastructure for multi-layer flexible packaging. Emerging chemical recycling technologies show particular promise for breaking our structures down into reusable raw materials. We are investing in these solutions and will bring them to market as soon as they are commercially viable.
For today, we help our clients make informed choices, providing full transparency on environmental attributes and supporting their sustainability reporting needs.
