Here's a truth most brands don't want to admit: your customers are silently judging your packaging.
When a parent buys a supplement, a household cleaner, or a cannabis edible, they don't just look at the label. They look at the closure. They wonder: "Can my toddler open this?"
If the answer is yes, you've just lost their trust - and probably their repeat business.

Why This Matters More Than Ever
Consumer expectations have shifted. Safety is now a brand reputation issue, not just a compliance checkbox.
In the U.S., the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA) requires child-resistant packaging for many household products. In Europe, similar regulations are tightening. Brands that ignore this are risking:
Legal liability - one incident can destroy a small business
Customer backlash - bad reviews spread fast on Amazon
Market access - many retailers require certified child-resistant packaging
How Child-Resistant Zippers Actually Work
The most common design we manufacture is the dual-zipper system:
Layer Function

Locking zipper (top) Stronger engagement, requires a release mechanism from a cutout portion - difficult for children to figure out
Sealing zipper (bottom) Regular press-to-close seal, accessible after the lock is released
Some advanced designs use hidden-flange technology, where the grasping flange is positioned between the attachment flange and the pouch wall, making it inaccessible to children but easy for adults who know how to reach it.
The result? Children struggle. Adults don't.
Smart Brands Are Already Switching
We're seeing child-resistant packaging expand beyond traditional pharmaceuticals into:
Pet treats (they look like food - kids grab them)
Laundry pods (colorful and enticing)
Cosmetics (essential oils, nail products)
Cannabis edibles (regulatory requirement in many states)
The common thread: if your product could be mistaken for food or candy by a child, you need child-resistant closure.
